A native of Western Washington, Steven C. Lacy graduated from Franklin Pierce High School in 1969. After living in Chile for two years, Mr. Lacy graduated from Brigham Young University in 1975 with a BA degree in Spanish. Mr. Lacy speaks Spanish fluently. He graduated from the University of Utah School of Law in 1979 with a juris doctor degree.
After graduating law school, Mr. Lacy, his wife, Debra, and his two young children moved back to Washington, settling in East Wenatchee. Shortly after securing a $1Million jury verdict for his client in a lender liability case, he opened his own law office in 1984. In 1986, he joined forces with Scott Kane and formed the law firm of Lacy & Kane, P.S.
Since forming Lacy & Kane, P.S., Mr. Lacy has sought justice for thousands of individuals (“the small guy”) mostly in the area of employment discrimination, wrongful discharge, and personal injury litigation.
In the course of representing these individuals, he has negotiated favorable settlements for his clients and won dozens of jury trial victories. For example, He successfully represented two employees who were discriminated against by the Washington Department of Social and Health Services who falsely accused them of complicity in the “Wenatchee Sex Ring” in the mid 1990’s. As a result of Mr. Lacy’s dedication to justice, a jury awarded one of these employees $1.8 Million in damages.
In early 2006, a jury awarded
over $600,000 in damages to Mr. Lacy’s client who had been wrongfully fired by a
local county after he refused to perform an illegal act and then exercised his
right to free speech to inform others about the county’s illegal actions.
Currently, Mr. Lacy serves as the Mayor of East Wenatchee, Washington. A
position he has held since 1998. He is also serving his second term on the Board
of Governors of the Washington State Trial Lawyers Association.
He lives in East Wenatchee with
his wife, Debra, and his youngest daughter of four children
